Working within Middlesbrough Council, our team helps those experiencing problems with substance use, domestic abuse, and homelessness. We are looking for two passionate, motivated individuals to join our team as Recovery Floating Housing Support Workers.
This role aims to provide flexible support to our service users in a way that facilitates engagement- providing a combination of office-based support, home visits and appointments in community locations. In undertaking duties, the successful candidates will use a trauma-informed strength-based approach to enable a person to access the services they need to improve their quality of life, gain/maintain suitable, stable accommodation and increase their level of protection from risk.
The post holders will be working as part of a dedicated team in Middlesbrough Council and must be effective team players, experienced in multi-agency working and committed to providing outstanding customer care while demonstrating tangible outcomes. Previous experience/knowledge of substance use services is desirable but not essential- this includes those with lived experience. The successful candidates will be provided with a comprehensive training package.
The duties of this role include (but are not limited to) the following:
Implementing suitable housing support plans based on needs identified during service users’ initial entry into service assessment.
Carrying out risk assessments and implementing risk management where appropriate.
Empowering service users to live as fully and independently as possible within their local community, by supporting them to develop life management skills and becoming independent in the areas of budgeting, cooking, shopping and maintaining their dwelling.
Providing housing support for the service users to maintain the security and safety of their dwelling.
Providing housing support which will allow the service user to manage their health and well-being e.g. support to access advice and information about general health as part of a package of support and signposting to other services.
Planning service delivery contact flexibly to meet individual needs and adopt a proactive approach to engagement so it maximises service accessibility. This includes working in a wide range of settings and communicating via a range of methods.
Sign-posting service users to providers of specialist advice where appropriate e.g. CAB, welfare rights, advocacy service and other community groups.
Encouraging, enabling and supporting service users to maintain good relations and avoid disputes.
Taking the lead professional role where this is required and supporting colleagues from other agencies, including rapid response to crises where applicable.
Providing assertive and persistent support to individuals and agencies to ensure effective engagement to achieve personal goals and aspirations.
Working with service users to accurately record and maintain their progression, records and plans.
Ensuring individuals have regular, up-to-date copies of their support plan and safety plan.
Recording activity and results, accurately and promptly, to support project evaluation as well as funding and research requirements.
Attending supervision regularly and committing to continuous professional development.

A Full UK Driving License and access to a vehicle with Business Insurance is essential for this role.
