Annual Salary: $53,001.00 - $56,745.00 Hourly: $27.18 - $29.10 Department: Development Services, Public Safety Division: Building Inspections FLSA: Non-Exempt Job Description: In this position you will support our Building Inspections division and assist with the City's floodplain management program by reviewing building permits and plans and assisting with other floodplain duties. Examples of Duties: In this role, you will: Review building and structure flood elevation certificates for compliance with South Carolina Building Codes (SCBC), The City’s Flood Hazard Prevention and Control ordinances (FHP&CO), applicable National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), and applicable Community Rating System (CRS) requirements related to building construction. Review building permit applications, documents and plans for compliance with SCBC, FHP&CO, applicable NFIP and CRS requirements related V-zone, Coastal A-zone, A-zone, Dry-flood Proofing, Wet-flood Proofing, and Substantial Improvement/Damage building flood designs. Conduct field inspections for permitted buildings to verify building flood design compliance with SCBC, FHP&CO ordinances, and applicable NFIP and CRS requirements. Maintain building and structure flood elevation certificates within The City’s permitting and land management system for public access and review by governing agencies. Communicate with the public regarding flood design building construction requirements and building related floodplain management requirements. Retain, collect, review and manage data related to The City’s CRS Activity 310 - Elevation Certificates. Assist in coordinating and performing City building damage assessments and managing damage assessment database records necessary to meet the NFIP requirements. Perform other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications: Associate’s degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Information Management, Planning, Engineering, Floodplain Management, Building Sciences, or related field 1 year of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience Valid state issued driver's license Successfully obtain Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) certificate within one year of employment and then maintain an active certification as required by the issuing organization Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Excel and Word, GIS, GMS, Adobe Acrobat and other similar software.
