Job Details Job Location: Ocean County YMCA - TOMS RIVER, NJ 08755 Position Type: Part Time Salary Range: $18.00 - $25.00 Hourly Job Shift: Any Job Category: Health and Wellness POSITION SUMMARY: The Floor/Personal Trainer, under the direct supervision of the Director of Health & Wellness, will be responsible for the supervision, observation and monitoring of members in the Fitness Center to ensure safety and adherence to the Fitness Center rules. This position assists OCYMCA members in finding new ways to inspire healthier habits through health & wellness. This position works closely with members in promoting wellness and helping individuals realize their personal best. Floor/Personal trainers are responsible for developing relationships with members and assisting them through the process of actively working toward better health by providing support, encouragement and education. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Promote a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that supports member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Observe participants and members activities; enforce safety regulations and positively explain and interpret all YMCA safety policies. Instruct members about safe and effective exercise techniques, using exercise equipment that includes but is not limited to weight equipment, cardio machines, and free weights. Assist members and participants with spotting while weight lifting. Maintain working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members. Create a friendly and welcoming environment for participants of all backgrounds and abilities. Promote the Personal Training Program to members of the OCYMCA. Make sure participants have been registered. Maintain accurate attendance via Daxko Redeem. Cultivate relationships by establishing a positive rapport with members, participants, volunteers, and staff. Create a sense of belonging for the members and participants by encouraging them to connect with others. Educate participants about the services the Ocean County YMCA offers and further connect them to the OCYMCA. Perform general facility maintenance within the Fitness Center such as making sure all equipment is in place, wiping machines, light vacuuming, fixing minor problems on machines, and immediately reporting any major problems with machines or equipment to the Director of Health and Wellness. Floor/Personal Trainer will maintain their certifications. Follow YMCA policies and procedures; respond to emergency situations. Support the strategic work of the OCYMCA: Create a culture of volunteerism by educating members about volunteer opportunities. Support a culture of philanthropy by telling your Y story to others and encouraging them to participate in OCYMCA fundraising efforts. Encourage members and celebrate their success in meeting their well-being goals. Nurture the potential of all youth by promoting meaningful programs and services. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: Must be 18 years old Working knowledge of body mechanics and physical fitness principles. Must hold a nationally recognized personal trainer certification (ACSM, NSCA, ACE, AFAA, etc) CPR, First Aid, AED Certifications or obtain within 30 days of hire date -will train. Requirements within 60 days of hire include: completion of: Child Sexual Abuse Prevention online course. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills Ability to work with youth and adults. Must have the physical, visual, and auditory ability to perform the essential functions of the job. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Flexibility to work afternoon, evenings and weekends.
