Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detailed-oriented Flow Cytometry Technologist to join our team in California. The Flow Cytometry Technologist will perform high-complexity testing using multi-parameter flow cytometry techniques to support clinical diagnostic testing. This role includes sample preparation. Instrument calibration, data analysis, and interpretation in compliance with CLIA, COLA, and California Department of Public Health (CDPH) regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
· Independently perform clinical laboratory tasks (testing and documentation). Responsible for following lab procedures on sample processing and handling, testing, antibody staining, acquisition and analysis on flow cytometry instruments (BD FACSLyric), reporting and maintaining complete and accurate records of all testing performed on-site.
· In-depth knowledge of laboratory techniques, scientific principles, quality control documentation and equipment maintenance.
· Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results.
· Assist with inventory management.
· Perform all aspects of flow cytometry testing and analysis, including: Calibrating instrumentation and lab equipment, setting up samples, fine-tuning gating techniques and preparing and maintaining reagents.
· Perform quality control procedures and instrument calibration in accordance with regulatory and laboratory protocols
· Acquire data and perform analysis using BD FACSLyric multicolor Flow Cytometers. Distinguish between normal and abnormal case results. Summarize and prepare pre-testing and testing material for pathologist-level sign-out.
· Assist with assay development, validation, and optimization of multi-color flow cytometry panels
· Adhere to establish turn-around-times while maintaining highest quality of test results.
· Maintain accurate laboratory records, logs, and documentation in compliance with CAP, CLIA, and CDPH guidelines.
· Communicate effectively with pathologists, scientists, and clinicians regarding results and technical issues
· Participate in continuing education, competency assessments, and internal audits
· Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
· Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Biological Sciences, or related field
· Valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) License
· ASCP Certification (MT, H, C, BB, M, I, ASCP certified)
· 1-2 years of experience in flow cytometry
· Strong understanding of immunology and fluorescence principles
· Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
