ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Faculty of Medicine and Health has been designed to enable innovation, excellence and strategic vision in teaching, research and clinical practice not only in medicine and health, but in all the areas in which we operate. We are committed to challenging conventional wisdom and to finding new paths to travel. We are focussed on leading new possibilities in the way we deliver wellness and healthcare and in making a distinctive impact on healthcare, both locally and globally. It’s our commitment to curiosity, connection and excellence that sets us apart. It’s how we’re making a difference - how we’re shaping healthcare.
As such, we are seeking an FMH Biobank Project Officer to join the FMH Biobank Framework team in the development and implementation of initiatives to standardise biobank facilities and operations and connect the community of practice across University Precincts.
There is an onsite expectation for this position.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • support the development and implementation of FMH Biobank Framework Projects, including assisting with the development and implementation of a Quality Management System (QMS), including policies, procedures and guidelines across different areas of biobank operations, as well as the delivery of biobank training and education programs
  • liaising with clinical staff (including surgeons and pathologists, research nurses and data managers) to ensure efficient and ethical participant consent and collection of biospecimens for research
  • supporting the development of written content for Framework Projects, such as work plans and procedures, presentations, communications and web content
  • maintaining accurate records for sample tracking and inventory management in other biobank data management (including archiving), in accordance with operating procedures.
