Description
Overview Answers multi-line phone calls from patients, guests and staff from any of the seven hospitals throughout North Alabama. Responsible for patient diet and allergy management across five campuses within the health system. Daily duties including data entry and the generation of reports for the Food and Nurtrition Service department. Responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving patient dietary issues in real time. Translate service preferences provided by Dietitians, nursing, and physicians into actionable instructions for Food Service production and delivery staff. Coordinates with multiple levels of management in five different hospitals to address the expressed needs of both in-patients and outpatients. Serves as a direct point of contact for the patients and their visitors to the Food and Nutrition department. Provides support for other Support Services as requested. Qualifications Education Preferred: High school graduate or GED. Experience: Ability to use a computer efficiently while communicating to others in a clear concise manner. Ability to use a telephone headset while placing orders in the computer. Additional Skills/Abilities:Requires excellent oral and written communication skills plus well-developed interpersonal skills. Ability to manage and appropriately prioritize multiple assignments in a stessful work environment. Ability to understand how systems are built and works in order to troubleshoot issues effectively and resolve problems in a timely manner. Ability to understand the impact of decisions on all areas of the system. Ability to adapt to a changing environment. Ability to effectively communicate with people from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. Understanding of Food and Nutrition Services processes and how various department areas work together. Thorough understanding of a variety of diet restrictions and how to combine food offerings in a quality, nutritious meal.
