Hours: 40 hours per week
Compensation: $20.00-$22.00/hr
Status: Non-Exempt
Schedule: Monday through Friday. Day Shift.

NEIGHBOR SERVICES AND FOOD DISTRIBUTION

  • Monitors Food Safety recalls and ensures communication to the Food Team to support safe and timely recall practices.
  • Manages relationships with the public seeking assistance from the Mission’s Pantry; manages all aspects of TEFAP application process, data collection. Checks emails and voicemails multiple times daily; responds to all callers in a timely manner.
  • Participates in Community Outreach activities including but not limited to: preparing for, communicating about, and participating in mobile distributions and events; visiting communities to equip individuals and families with food resources in Carroll County’s food network. (Expanding food services to Latinx communities is a key initiative.)
  • Manages record-keeping for persons served through on-campus and mobile distributions, including data entry into Maryland Food Bank’s Link2Feed database and the Master List in a timely manner; produces reports and assists in analyzing data to inform new initiatives.
  • Ensures Carroll County Food Resource Guide is up-to-date, regularly verifying contact information, hours, etc. Works with Food and Engagement teams to ensure wide distribution of the Carroll County Resource Guide.
  • Supports TEFAP food distribution, checking in neighbors.
  • Identifies information and supports that can be provided to neighbors to support their varying needs (i.e. SNAP, WIC assistance, housing, etc.).
  • Engages neighbors in the Mission’s work, communicating key information to pantry patrons, and developing and deploying periodic surveys to provide feedback on patron needs.
  • Works with the rest of the food team and the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure that other staff members, assigned AHC clients, volunteers and interns who support the food program are trained in corresponding procedures.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Preference for candidates with significant public health or food systems education.
  • Experience with data collection and analysis through spreadsheets and other software programs.
  • Diligent in meeting deadlines and employing best practices regarding health and safety.
  • Strong communication skills; effective verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Demonstrates good judgment and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule.
  • Honors and protects issues of confidentiality with sensitivity and grace.
  • Willingness to receive instruction/professional development in food security and other Mission-related areas.
  • Ability to work independently, showing initiative, but also as a team player collaboratively, with commitment to spirit of teamwork and greater good of the Mission community.
  • Maintains a respectful and considerate relationship with clients, volunteers, and staff regardless of race, gender, age, religion, appearance, or circumstances; strives to aid in a culturally competent manner.
  • Preference for candidates who are bilingual in English and Spanish

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to Lift 35 lbs. on your own. Team-lift 60 lbs.
