POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Server provides friendly and responsive service to create an exceptional dining experience for all guests. Required follow all Provincial and Local food handling, and safety guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Successful completion of a Highschool Diploma or must be minimum 18 years of age.
  • Prior experience in a food-serving establishment is an asset.
  • Currently hold and maintain a valid Food Handler Certification, Smart Serve Certification, and First Aid, AED and CPR Certificate.
  • Positive attitude with the ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and deliver orders in a timely manner.
  • Able to perform high-quality work while unsupervised.
  • Basic math skills with the ability to handle money accurately and operate a point-of-sale system.
  • Ability to communicate well with other restaurant staff and guests and maintain personable and professional communication at all times.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to learn and use the tools and systems in the restaurant.
  • Ability to lift items up to 25lbs.
  • Ability to work outside during events and seasonal activities.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work flexible hours (evenings and weekends).
  • Successful candidate(s) will be required to submit a current, clear Criminal Record Check from an accredited police service prior to employment.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for opening and closing the restaurant; opening the bar and completing all bar counts and till if assigned to that section.
  • Welcoming and engaging customers in a friendly manner.
  • Take customers’ food and drink orders; makes recommendations; enter orders in our point-of-sale system to relay orders to the kitchen and bar.
  • Responds to guests’ questions about food, beverages and other restaurant functions and services.
  • Must be knowledgeable about the food and beverages offered so they can explain dishes and clarify any concerns about allergies or styles of food preparation, including handling all delivery of orders in a safe manner to the customers
  • Monitors and observes guests during their visit and adhere to all Smart Serve guidelines. Ensure guests are satisfied with the food and service. Respond promptly and courteously to any requests.
  • Assists customers with closing their bill, accepting payment, and keeping accurate track of all receipts.
  • Collaborates with the kitchen and bar staff for prompt and correct orders; organized and detail oriented.
  • Checks identification for age-restricted items, such as alcoholic beverages,
  • Delivers food and beverages in a timely matter.
  • Delivers a memorable dining experience by resolving all customer issues promptly; asks for assistance when needed.
  • Ensures tables and chairs are kept clean and presentable, setting up assigned sections in preparation for customers.
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary environment, including server stations and bar, sweeping floors, wiping menus and other assigned duties as needed.
