FOOD AND BEVERAGE SUPERVISOR REPORTS TO: MANAGER, FOOD AND BEVERAGE OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT: FOOD AND BEVERAGE LOCATION:  DOWNTOWN TORONTO  VACANCY STATUS:  THIS POSTING IS FOR A CURRENT VACANCY ON OUR TEAM SUMMARY The Food and Beverage Supervisor supports the F&B operation across all our venues, ensuring high standards of service, quality and guest service during programming and catering events.  JOB DUTIES F&B Operations * Supervise the operations of the bar and concession staff  * Manage and accountable for cash, floats, deposits for shift * Ensure the efficient operation of all service and catering functions * Assist in refinement of operations and maximizing of profits * Facilitate communication between management and staff * Liaison with catering and rental staff * Works in conjunction with front-of house management and staff to ensure patron services and needs are managed * Report any items requiring cleaning and/or repair immediately to manager  * Train, coach and motivate staff in all food & beverage operations duties and procedures, the Corporation’s policies and regulations * Identify potential problems and report to management, developing solutions wherever possible * Assist in the doing of monthly and year-end inventory counts * General office administrative support PATRON SERVICE * Greet all patrons with respect and a warm, sincere welcome * Proactively maintain current knowledge of upcoming events, and services/facilities available at the halls and surrounding areas to be able to knowledgeably respond to patron questions * Provide feedback to senior management with respect to patron comments and concerns * Analyze operations and identify opportunities to improve levels of service  * Possess a thorough knowledge of procedures for handling patron incidents and emergencies and be prepared to handle these situations should they arise * Ensure emergency egress points from assigned section are kept clear and safe REQUIREMENTS * 6 months to 1 years’ experience in food and beverage and/or catering services with cash handling * High School graduate * Catering experience at the supervisory level * Valid Smart Serve certification  * Ability to work in both Massey and Roy Thomson Hall and Allied Music Centre when needed * Flexibility required- average of 20-25+ hours a week * Day, evening and weekend availability required, if there are shows on both Saturday and Sunday, employees are available to work one of the days * Employees are required to be available to work 1 (one) of the following dates: December 31st, and January 1st * Work at least 50% plus 1 (one) of the shows and events scheduled at each location per each week (a combination of days, evenings, weekends and holidays) * Ability and willingness to strive for excellence and superior customer service essential * Professional demeanor with excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Friendly and self-motivated with outgoing disposition toward patrons and co-workers * Problem solving skills, ability to adapt to change on short notice * First Aid and CPR training are an asset   Working Conditions * Ability to reach and bend frequently and lift up to 40 lbs * The physical demands of bartending duties include visual concentration, mental alertness, manual dexterity, and physical standing, with bending/lifting (up to 40 lbs/case of beer) and sitting, depending on the location assignment * Standing and walking required for 75% to 100% on a scheduled shift * The ability to walk up and down a number of staircases each shift * Pressure in reacting to emergency situations in accordance with defined protocol   Core Competencies * Customer Focus * Communication * Teamwork * Quality Orientation * Time Management * Adaptability / Flexibility * Planning and Organizing * Problem Solving * Accountability and Dependability * Ethics and Integrity * Mathematical Reasoning   As an equitable employer, The Corporation of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall is committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment where a diverse workforce thrives.
