Job Description:

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties.

  • Clean and repackage recovered food.

•Pick up and process donated resources by unloading, sorting, placing, and loading donated items. •Work with clients in food distribution.

  • Contribute to the safety of staff and clients (e.g., clear fire exits, no obstacles inside/outside the building, clean spillage, and assist in maintaining facility cleanliness).
  • Take responsibility for accurately completing all client intake and recording into the system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
  • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
    Alternative combination of education and Experience may be considered.

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Completion of High School.
  • CPR, First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Training or willingness to complete once hired.

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Up to one year of related experience.

Skills and Capabilities:

  • Represent the organization in a positive, professional, and engaging manner.
  • Exhibit good listening and interpersonal skills, have strong oral/written communication skills.
  • Understanding of individuals of diverse social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Good team player.
  • Good oral and writing skills.
  • Heavy lifting: able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly without assistance from others.
  • Valid Full Driver’s License
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Good listening, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Self-motivated and disciplined.
  • Demonstrates ability to work with agencies, peers, staff, and volunteers.
  • Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry, vulnerable sector check).

Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $17.85 to $21.66 with a maximum of $25.99.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
