FOOD & BEVERAGE MANAGER

Join our fast-paced summer team, and take the lead to help create our new farm-to-table fine dining restaurant into a world-class experience for our guests.
At Dark Horse Estate Winery, we’re in the business of trailblazing. We established the first estate winery on the shores of Lake Huron in Huron County, a brand-new wine region. Continually evolving, we’re the dark horse in this race and we are looking for someone passionate about delighting our guests from around the world with an elevated winery experience at every touchpoint.
Assist in managing our hospitality dream team including the winery, banquet / events space and fine dining farm-to-table restaurant, led by our in-house Executive Chef.

Job Summary:

  • On-premise coordinator for food & beverage duties
  • Ensure operation manuals are adhered to; including opening and closing procedures, daily work sheets, Restaurant and retail procedures, cleaning schedules and all other duties required to successfully execute daily routines in an efficient restaurant and retail.
  • Coordinating orders and receiving deliveries and thoroughly checking invoices for product quality, quantity, and price
  • Manages staff service activities, resources and scheduling
  • Works in tandem with Venue Coordinator to ensure a seamless guest experience at each touchpoint
  • Supervises and mentors the team; conduct recruitment, training, task allocation, and performance evaluation for both retail and restaurant.
  • Maintain efficient stock controlling methods for all banquet-related products
  • Responsible for enforcing house regulations
  • Ensure venue cleanliness and presentation at all times
  • Coordinates inventory as required
  • Ensuring daily restaurant and retail operations run smoothly
  • Seasonal Cocktail development and costing & Coordinate with chef for menu costing.
  • Ability to think critically and troubleshoot problems that may arise
  • Contributes to team environment and ensures all experiences are of the highest calibre
  • Maintains and promotes updated knowledge of company policies and procedures
  • Collaborates with management and coordinates food and beverage service for special events
  • Working knowledge of DHEW brand products, adaptability to sell wine in retail space and in dining environment
  • Other duties as required
  • Maximizes revenue by tracking costing and labour costs and implementing strategies to help maximize revenue.
  • Developing training guides for staff members
  • Other duties as required

The ideal candidate will have these qualifications:

  • Impeccable organization
  • Comfortable with multitasking in a fast-paced environment
  • Passionate about providing a top-notch guest experience
  • Ability to manage staff team and delegate tasks
  • Maintain professional manner and prioritize effective communication
  • Must be smart serve certified
  • Food handlers’ certificate (preferred)
  • Technical competency required, including familiarity with Microsoft office
  • Must be comfortable working flexible hours
  • Experience is an asset

Please note this is a seasonal position, spring - fall 2025.
Wage will be based on experience.
