Description We are Hiring! Job Posting: FOOD PANTRY WORKER Location: 932 West River Rd, Nichols, NY Employment Type: Part Time 9a-12p & 1p-3p Tuesday to Friday Salary: $16.00 an hour General Description: To ensure that the Tioga Pantry is organized, clean and stocked with food. Greet consumers in a warm and friendly manner. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Greets consumers in a warm and friendly manner. Helps consumers, if needed, to get their food to their car. Works with individuals with disabilities in the pantry doing volunteer work. Takes at least weekly inventory of food on back shelves, skids and in appliances. Works with supervisor on the ordering of food. Develops and implement plan for unloading and storage of food shipments. Defrosts freezers, as needed. Shifts cases of food in the pantry to allow older food to be upfront on shelves, skids, fridge, and newer food in the back. Assists in food deliveries. Helps pick up food reserve when needed. Maintains daily cleanliness of floors, shelves, all appliances-inside and out, carts, coolers, ice mats, bins and baskets. Completes daily temperature logs notifying the supervisor immediately if appliances are not in working order. Posts expiration information for all food groups. Checks daily for spoiled food and dispose of, as necessary. Arranges pantry shelves to encourage the selection of healthier and nutritious food choices. Ensures all cold foods are listed daily on the white board. Attends staff meetings and other agency functions. Completes other duties as assigned. Requirements Qualifications: Education: High School Diploma Credentials: Valid NY State Driver License and access to a reliable vehicle Experience: Previous experience working in a food industry preferred. Relevant years of experience and education will be considered Additional Requirements: Demonstrate ethical business practices, in conformance with all state and federal laws and regulations. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties. Willingness to foster agency, department and program wide cooperation and team work through use of positive/constructive communication techniques. Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality of all records reviewed including consumer records, employee records and billing records. Ability to work in the following software programs: Windows, Microsoft Office, and multiple online software platforms as required by funders and partner organizations Ability to analyze and interpret data and to handle problem resolution. Possession of a valid NYS Driver’s license and a driver's record considered acceptable by agency and insurance carrier. Continuous use of a reliable, registered and insured vehicle.
