The Central Okanagan Food Bank (COFB) is seeking a Food Rescue Coordinator to lead and support our food rescue and teams. Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Food Rescue Coordinator, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations of our food rescue program. You’ll work closely with staff, volunteers, and local food partners to ensure rescued food is sorted, stored, and distributed efficiently and safely. This role combines hands-on leadership with logistical oversight and contributes directly to our mission of building a healthy, hunger-free community. You will work closely and in tandem with the Volunteer Coordinator and the Client Services and Distribution Coordinator to meet operational objectives and ensure the timely creation of food boxes to those in need.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide on-the-ground leadership and direction to our food rescue and teams.
  • Create a positive, respectful, and productive working atmosphere for staff and volunteers.
  • Oversee quality control for all food rescue, ensuring freshness, food safety, and timely distribution.
  • Manage partnerships and logistics related to our Farm Partner food diversion program.
  • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures for all food rescue activities.
  • Ensure efficient use of fleet and people resources for unloading, sorting, and distributing food.
  • Train and supervise staff and volunteers in food handling, sorting, and storage best practices.
  • Monitor inventory in walk-in coolers and freezers, following FIFO (First-In-First-Out) standards.
