Description This position assists with the organization, storage, repacking, collection, and distribution of goods for Goodwill Northern Michigan’s Food Rescue program. It also assists with the upkeep of Food Rescue warehouse space and occasionally assists with the collection and distribution of food for the Food Rescue program. * This position is M-F 6:15am - 2:15pm* Essential Functions: Drives and operates Food Rescue trucks, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws, including seasonal weight restrictions ("frost laws") and adjust routes or loads as required during thaw periods to protect roadways and ensure legal operation. Collects and delivers donated food to pantries and partner agencies. Distributes food to partner agencies via warehouse pickups. Weighs, logs, and inventories Food Rescue food distributed and received, including purchased food from the Northwest Food Coalition. Operates Food Rescue equipment such as forklift, pallet stacker, and pallet jack. Assist Food Rescue Manager and Food Rescue Warehouse Coordinator in maintenance of Food Rescue equipment such as vehicles, refrigeration, forklift, electric and non-electric pallet jacks, and pallet stackers. Maintains an organized and clean warehouse that meets Food Rescue safety and Local, State and Federal food safety standards, policies, and procedures, coordinating with Food Rescue Manager, Food Rescue Warehouse Coordinator, Human Resources and/or Maintenance staff as needed. Communicates throughout the day with Food Rescue Manager, Warehouse Coordinator, Community Engagement Coordinator, and Food Rescue Drivers, and volunteers to provide effective services. Represent Food Rescue and Goodwill Northern Michigan to donors, partner sites, and agencies. Primary Responsibilities: Support the mission and vision of Goodwill Industries of Northern Michigan. Perform work in a safe manner by observing all Goodwill safety policies and procedures. Interact with all Goodwill team members, clients, and customers in a professional manner. Respect the diversity of others, including but not limited to, those with cultural, ethnic, and gender differences, individuals experiencing homelessness, and persons with visible and non-visible disabilities. Assists in the training of new drivers, as needed. Assists in volunteer repacks, as needed. Assists in Healthy Harvest gleans, as needed. Drives Food Rescue vehicles and routes. Builds and maintains relationships with donors and agency partners. Delivers exceptional customer service internally and externally. Adhere to all policies and procedures as established in the Goodwill Manual. Other duties as assigned by manager. Reports to: Food Rescue Manager Supervises: None Requirements Education, Licenses, Certifications and Experience: High School Diploma / GED. Valid driver’s license with safe, clean driving record. Have or ability to obtain a Food Safety certificate. Have or ability to obtain a Chauffeurs License or CDL. Have or ability to obtain OSHA Forklift Certification. Have or ability to obtain DOT Medical Certification. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Familiarity with food service, food industry, and community pantries and meal programs. Excellent customer service skills. Good verbal and written communication skills. Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, etc. The ability to multi-task. Knowledge of, sensitivity to, and ability to work with persons with disabilities or who are disadvantaged. Self-starter, personally motivated and dependable. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard and knowledge of basic math. Knowledge of roads in Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Kalkaska, Antrim and Benzie counties. Physical Requirements: Routinely sits, stands and walks throughout the workday. Routinely bends, stoops and stretches throughout the day. Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted, with occasional heavy lifting, exerting 50-100 pounds of force.
