Key Requirements:

  • Candidates are to hold a relevant degree or diploma in Food Inspection /Environmental Health / equivalent or be studying for such qualification.
  • Good knowledge and experience of the practical implementation of food safety & H&S processes and compliance at a fast-paced operational level, ensuring that food safety is managed as part of the ongoing corporate risk programmes rather than in isolation.
  • Demonstrate high standards of forward planning, organisational skills, influencing skills and risk management.
  • Ability to understand and interpret a wide range of analytical and microbiological results and make timely and appropriate judgements based on the information.
  • Ability to manage cross functional “Problem Solving” teams.
  • Ideally a knowledge of regulatory authorities, processes & powers (e.g. Environmental Health & Trading Standards).
  • Competent with IT systems to complete audits, develop systems and generate reports.
  • Strong ability to adapt communication style between colleagues at all levels.
  • Self-motivated and highly organised with a high attention to detail.
  • Full driving licence as the position will require some travel.
Responsibilities

The Purpose:

  • To share a commitment to the delivery of exceptional standards of compliance in accordance with the company’s aim to be the best football club in the world both on and off the pitch.
  • To work in collaboration with a team of catering professionals and help them deliver the needs and expectations of a busy department through their conference event, and match day business. You will also be expected to carry our strong business conformance ethic through to our suppliers, including player accommodation and travel platforms.
  • You will need to be flexible, determined and committed to personal development and be able to manage busy and varied workloads that can often change at a moment’s notice.
  • The role requires flexibility with regards to working hours and has an emphasis on meeting pre-determined deadlines

The Role:

  • Regulatory Compliance & Legislation
  • Support the Food Safety Manager in ensuring compliance with all relevant food safety regulations across catering, hospitality, retail, and event operations.
  • Monitor and implement new or amended legislation, ensuring updates are communicated effectively to managers and staff through appropriate channels (e.g. presentations, policies, training).
  • Act as a point of contact for Environmental Health and Local Authority representatives in the absence of the Food Safety Manager / Head of Regulatory Services.
  • Food Safety Systems & Audits
  • Maintain, review, and update the company HACCP system to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular audits, inspections, and surveys of all food service operations (including kitchens, bars, retail outlets, kiosks, cafés, training facilities, and external suppliers).
  • Prepare, distribute, and follow up on inspection and audit reports, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Lead pre-match/event kitchen inspections and circulate findings to relevant managers and supervisors.
  • Oversee pest control provision and ensure compliance with food safety standards.
  • Menu & Allergen Management
  • Liaise with the Allergens Facilitator monthly to ensure all menus are accurately checked and compliant for match days, events, and catering operations.
  • Ensure allergen and food safety documentation is completed and signed off prior to each event.
  • Training & Team Support
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to catering teams on food safety and service standards.
  • Develop, deliver, and coordinate relevant food safety training for new and existing staff.
  • Attend and contribute to monthly HACCP Committee meetings, ensuring actions are recorded and followed up.
  • Sustainability & Certifications
  • Support sustainable supplier procurement processes and compliance.
  • Promote and implement food safety, health & safety, and environmental initiatives to support the maintenance of ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health & Safety) and ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management).
  • Reporting & Leadership
  • Prepare and submit monthly food safety and compliance reports.
  • Lead by example, adhering to strict personal hygiene and food safety standards when entering food service areas.
  • Champion the importance of food safety in delivering business objectives, customer satisfaction, and brand reputation, taking an enforcement role with management where necessary
