Description

Food Safety coordinator will provide improvement to the Food Safety Assurance function on a daily basis and to work as part of the Management Team to form site based decisions. Food Safety Coordinator will also help oversee all of food safety and food safety compliance for the perishable department and help manage food safety Operations through coordination and utilization of quality assurance and regulatory compliance programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Implementation and maintenance of the Food Safety, Sanitation and Housekeepers Program.
  • Ensure all routines and rituals relating to Food Safety implemented and maintained on site - including positive release, routine reporting and archiving of key Food Safety.
  • Ensuring all staff (MS & NMS) are equipped, trained, qualified, motivated, developed and empowered for ensuring food product quality & Safety throughout the process.
  • Develop and implement Food Safety and Organic Programs and Support annual audits for FDA, C-TPAT, and PrimusGFS certification.
  • Liaise with Warehouse Managers to identify, conduct and support continuous education and training for all employees to meet or exceed industry and/or government standards and legislation.
  • Liase with outside vendors for support with our pre-requisite programs (pest program, janitorial services, sanitation and cleaning products).
  • Administrator for EDI websites (FDA, C-TPAT,Azzule,etc)
  • Conduct regular facility inspections to ensure all Health and Safety and Food Safety practices are being conducted and followed.
  • Validation and verification of operational check list, forms and log files are being completed in a timely manner and address any non-conformance’s.
  • Create and maintain operational policy manuals (SOPs).
  • Conduct internal program audits and mock recalls as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • High School Certificate
  • 2+ years of related experience in food safety
  • Be able to prioritize work and be able to be independant with some supervision
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Must be a self-starter and willing to work
  • Proficient in Microsoft office
  • 1 to 2 years’ experience in leadership role preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must have ability to effectively follow-up and handle multiple projects with Strong personal time-management skills and effectively manage associated stress.

SPECIAL ABILITIES:

  • Bilingual perferred.
  • Proficient in FAMOUS perferred and basic inventory knowledge.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with HACCP, Good Manufacturing Practices, FDA Food Code, integrated pest management, and auditing practices
