Description

Newrest is looking for a Food Safety Coordinator who will help with overseeing the food safety aspect of the facility. This individual will be responsible for a variety of items, including performing safety and quality audits, temperature control checks, and training of team members.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or Food Safety preferred but not required
  • Two to three years of food quality assurance experience
  • Good communication skills with ability to correct and teach at the same time
  • Ability to speak Spanish is a plus, but not required
  • Business and customer service focused
  • Proven understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), FDA, USDA, and HACCP regulations
  • Good understanding of OSHA regulations
  • Well-organized, rigorous and methodical but enough adaptability to local constraints

Responsibilities
  • Daily review of food safety and quality records to ensure compliance with company’s food standards
  • Daily monitoring of Preventive Controls
  • Run report detailing current performance
  • Follow up with action plans to address gaps are tracked
  • Follow up after post audits occur to validate action plan completion
  • Ensures timely review of plan/models with appropriate managers
  • Schedule meeting events and daily activities as needed
  • Provide training to employees in all departments
  • Interact with Managers daily to ensure accurate data is being reported for each department
  • Interacts with QHSE Manager for weekly updates
  • Support all customer and regulatory audits, at times, liaises with customers and regulatory agencies;
  • Ensure compliance with customer specifications and quality standards (e.g. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), HACCP etc.) and follow up with corrective actions if necessary
  • Execute monthly self-assessments on the elements of food safety and executes the required food safety related testing as defined in HACCP plan
  • Collect and monitor all quality documents
  • Participate and support company sponsored initiatives such as Global Quality Standards (GQS), HACCP, Lean Manufacturing, Employee Safety
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned
