We are currently seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated SQF Practitioner to join our team. Looking for someone to start mid-July to cover maternity leave (1 year).
This pivotal role is responsible for ensuring that our food safety and quality management systems comply fully with Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of food safety regulations and demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills across departments.
Working Schedule and Primary tasks
This a position requiring 20-25 hours per week. You will develop a weekly schedule and review it with your manager. The bakery operates Monday through Friday, with current baking production Tuesday through Friday operating between approx. 5am to 7pm. Individual staff are working up to 10 hour shifts. Food safety lead hours are 10 am to 4 pm, Tuesday to Friday.
Your primary tasks will be to ensure Care Bakery successfully maintains its SQF certification. Within that you will need to
o Become familiar with our current food safety program and work to maintain it
o Gather data for SQF record-keeping
o Maintain swabbing and environmental testing program
o Train staff on the correct implementation of SQF
o Validate and monitor data entry by staff for correct entry
o Prepare Care Bakery for successful audit in Feb 2026
o You will implement, monitor, maintain, and update the Care Bakery SQF program and staff to ensure that Care Bakery continually delivers safe food to its clients and meets SQF standards
o All other duties as assigned by Amanda Atkinson
Requirements
· Have completed a HACCP training course (SGS – GMP Preventive Control, HACCP Training);
· Be competent in implementing and maintain HACCP-based food safety plans; and
· Have an understanding of the SQF Food Safety Code: Food Manufacturing and the requirements to implement and maintain an SQF System relevant to the site’s scope of certification
Qualifications
· QA/QC experience in the food industry
· Microsoft Word, and Excel knowledge
