Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Candidate will be primarily responsible for performing microbiological tests on food and food related products to detect the presence of bacterial and fungal organisms. Additional analyses such as shelf life, challenge, and validation studies are trained over time. This position requires a Wednesday through Sunday schedule. Weekend workdays are paid differentially.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Good communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and precise documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Preferred: Experience in a laboratory setting (academic and internships count).
  • Preferred: Microbiology and/or chemistry background.
  • Preferred: Experience with PCR and pipetting.

EDUCATION:

  • Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science or related fields.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity for handling small samples and laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to lift and move containers and equipment as required.

  • Work under the supervision of the department manager.
