Description:
Cargill operates five Canadian facilities located in Ontario, Alberta and Quebec. In Alberta, the High River plant is a fully integrated beef processing facility where over 2,300 employees’ process 4500 head of cattle per day, and the Calgary Case Ready facility has over 350 employees serving national retailers and food service customers. In Ontario, the fully integrated Guelph beef facility employs over 820 employees and processes 1,800 head of cattle per day, while the Guelph Case Ready facility has over 600 employees. In Quebec, the Chambly Case Ready facility has over 500 employees serving national retailers and food service customers.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-Secondary education in Food Science or Agriculture or related.
- Food industry/meat cuts ( Beef and Pork) knowledge.
- Excellent writing and computer skills needed to prepare reports, file claim and create/amend Specification manual as required.
- Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of Food Safety concepts, including Red Meat Raw Material/Finished product Knowledge.
- Knowledge of using many programs on the computer, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills: Can work and complete projects within strict timelines. Must complete tasks at Specific times on a daily basis.
- Excellent communication skills: Must be able to communicate well with production employees, FSQR Technicians, Maintenance, and Management in order to communicate any defects, file claim to supplier and conduct corrective actions for any deviations that may exist.
- Professional approach when dealing with management, as well as when handling audits and representing Cargill Foods in the community and to suppliers/customers.
- Must be able to work efficiently individually and in a team environment.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to handle issues regarding Product defects with supplier/production department.
- independent thinking is required in creating corrective and preventative measures to prevent Specific problems from reoccurring.
- Must be able to deal well with workplace conflicts involving production personnel and management.
- Create an efficient and effective working relationship with Suppliers and Customer.
- Implement innovation: new ideas to improve Product defects through trending and communication.

Responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The FSQR Associate Technician is accountable for providing general quality assurance and food safety technical support in the following areas of focus: testing and auditing process documentation, data collection and analysis, and supporting knowledge transfer. Typically works under direct supervision. Food/feed safety and quality assurance duties typically follow a day-to-day routine with little variation, in each of the areas of focus.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
35% - Finished product Quality checks, Lead specification changes as required, Maintain customer Specifications books up to date.
10% - Raw Material Quality checks, Lead specification changes as required, Maintain Specifications books up to date.
10% - Provide Specification Training as required.
10% - Prepare & File customer claims, and create/amend Specification manual as required.
10% - Monitor GMPs/FSEP as required.
10% - Assisting Shelf Life projects: Assist conducting shelf life tests, prepare reports and final summaries.
5% - Following up on all quality customer complaints, to ensure appropriate actions and preventative measures are in place to help prevent re-occurrence.
5% - Documentation review of HACCP and food safety and quality documents, including CCPs, SSOPs and performing, daily, weekly or monthly on-sites and monthly/annual training, as required.
5% - Assist in audits: Attend audits, prepare documents required, ensure all documentation is up to date and verified.
