JOB DESCRIPTION:

Tests and inspects products at various stages throughout the production process to ensure compliance with product specifications and evaluates data to determine and maintain the quality and integrity of products.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree (B. A.) from a four-year college in food science, food technology, chemistry or related field.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess proficient typing abilities, and have knowledge of Spreadsheet Software (MS Excel) , Word Processing Software (MS Word) Database Software (MS Access) and Email Software).

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITY AND DUTIES:

Inspect incoming ingredients and packaging material for conformance to product specifications.
Audit blending operation for conformance to process and packaging specifications.
Audit production for conformance to process and package specifications.
Maintain QA recordkeeping, filing system and housekeeping programs in the QA areas.
Perform microbiological plating and analysis functions.
Maintain compliance with CPF water quality monitoring program.
Monitor all aspects of production for compliance to HACCP, GMP’s, SQF, and SOP’s.
Verify the calibration and /or calibrate laboratory & operational equipment.
Inform the QA Manager of any out-of-spec situations or negative trends.
Initiate product on hold reports when necessary.
Comply with Co-Pack requirements.
Follows instructions and responds to management or lead direction.
Writes and speaks clearly and informatively and able to read and interpret written information.
Able to make sound decisions based on specifications, procedures, and experience
Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and completes work in timely manner.
Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events and reacts well under pressure.
Maintain and execute the CPF retain program.
Ensure appropriate packaging and timely shipping of all Co-pack samples.
Conduct analytical testing at the appropriate frequency to maintain compliance with both CPF and co-packer requirements.
Follows policies and procedures and uses equipment and materials properly.
Observes safety and security procedures and reports potentially unsafe conditions.
Possesses familiarity with basic chemistry, food science, and microbiology and strives to continuously build knowledge and skills.
Displays good interpersonal skills
Is self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
Is consistently at work and on time and commits to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals
