We are currently recruiting for a Food Safety & Quality Technical Specialist to join our Food Safety and Quality team in our Belfast depot.
This role is responsible for providing Food Safety & Quality support at each of the stages along the supply chain, including grower/source, supplier, warehouse, product management, retailer and consumer, the main duties of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Operating to the prescribed protocols as set out under the Standard Operation Protocols, and Food Safety & Quality Procedures and Work Instructions
- Liaising with Operations regarding the day-to-day adherence to these FS&Q standards
- Ensuring adherence to HACCP pre-requisite programme e.g. calibration, pest control, Glass & Perspex audits, verifying accuracy and filing of temperature documentation
- Carry out scheduled supplier visits to check elements of their FS&Q system.
- Communicate FS&Q issues as they arise to suppliers and follow-up responses.
- Carry out Retailer Visits to check compliance to key food safety criteria.
- Perform product testing/auditing at chill backdoor in accordance with agreed testing schedules, procedures & specifications
- Assessments of packaged Own Brand products against specification
- The verification of MNI shelf life on fresh produce and meats and comparison testing with competitors (this may also include the purchase of these products)
- Preparation of product samples for benchmarking MNI products
- Implementation support for auditors re: gap analysis in product specifications
- Facilitating measuring & reduction of quality operational KPIs namely rejections, retailer claims & retailer queries
- Follow up, and close out of relevant Retailer Queries, as per Service Now, and ensuring that Retailers SLA is adhered to.
- Reviewing quality performance of products during Supplier and Store visits.
- Effectively deal off issues as appropriate or escalate to Food Safety Co-ordinator /Auditors in a timely fashion
- Completion of Project work as directed by the Food Safety and Quality Team to improve Food Safety and Quality initiatives within the business.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Science/ Food Science Qualification Essential
- Technical Quality experience
- HACCP/Food Safety Management systems knowledge
- Flexibility, quick learner, problem solver, good communication and good organisational skills.
- Full Driver’s License and access to own car is required
Please be advised this is a shift rotation position onsite in our Belfast Depot, working days - Sunday to Thursday for two weeks and then Monday to Friday for two weeks covering daily hours between 9AM - 5.30PM.
