We have an exciting opportunity in our Central Specialty Pet business unit for a Food Safety Specialist/Production Clerk at our Cressona, PA site.
The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of food safety, including document control, food safety procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and audit experience. Additionally, this role is responsible for work orders and assists in managing inventory control of materials and manufactured items, as well as resolving discrepancies. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • SQF Practitoner certification highly preferrable.
  • Mathematical skills required- ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, fractions, and decimals.
  • High School diploma required.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Ability to write clearly and informatively, as well as read and interpret written information effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to solve problems involving concrete variables within standardized situations.
  • Effectively communicates changes and provides leadership to ensure team alignment and engagement.Good organizational skills are essential.

Responsibilities

Review and create work orders for the cleaning of grain, process in SAP system.

  • Reviews production work orders and enters data: packaging usages, premix items, quantities, set offs, materials usages, hours of accounting (set up time, production time and down times).
  • Enter work order information into Excel spreadsheet for the weekly tons report.
  • Review and analyze daily costing of production orders. Investigate variances.
  • Responsible for month end duties: work orders, clean downs, variance reporting.
  • Conduct monthly bulk grain inventories and analyze discrepancies.
  • Process inbound deliveries accurately and timely.
  • Compiles, stores, retrieves, and analyzes production and labor data. Recommend improvement to enhance operational performance.
  • Document Control: create and maintain document control indexes; edit, review, and distribute all documents. Enter new documents into Document Control.
  • Performs environmental swabs on a weekly basis.
  • Sampling and Test of inbound ingredients
  • Quality Control testing of grains
  • Assign and conduct internal audits monthly.
  • Performs GMP audits and reports findings to Operations management.
  • Create and complete timely corrective actions.
  • Participate in the yearly NSF audit.
  • Update ingredient specification sheets as needed.
  • COC organization- storing COCs to STO’s for shipments from Chilton.
  • Storing test results, railroad seals and other documentation.
  • Report delivery date for inbound loads of ingredients per vendor information.
  • General office responsibilities include filing, answering phone, UPS coordination, and greet visitors/vendors, ensuring they have signed in and have read/signed GMP Policy.
  • Issue visitor badges, safety glasses, and ensure visitors wear all proper PPE before entering production areas.
  • Greeting and sign in visitors/vendors; ensure they have read and signed GMP policy.
  • All employees are responsible for reporting food safety issues to those who can initiate corrective actions.
