JOB TITLE: Food Server Related Titles: Waitstaff Reports to: Dining Room Manager, Clubhouse Manager Position Summary Provides outstanding food and beverage and club event service to all club members and guests. Essential Job Functions Delivers and promotes prompt, courteous and friendly service to all members, guests and employees. Performs opening duties and side work as assigned by manager. Provides immediate attention to all members and guests upon seating. Answers questions and suggests menu items. Enters orders in to the club’s point of sale system and explains any special cooking instructions with accurate abbreviations of food items. Assembles food on tray. Serves meals according to service techniques. Checks back with guests/members to ensure satisfaction. Removes soiled dishes. Suggests and/or serves dessert, coffee, and/or after dinner drinks. Verifies accuracy of all checks before closing shift. Keeps tables, dining room, and server stations clean and tidy. Advises supervisor/manager of any complaints as soon as they occur. Performs clean-up and closing duties as assigned by manager. Studies all menu items and is able to explain dishes to members and guests upon request or if a special item is being prepared. Distributes menus and seats members/guests, if hostess is not on duty or is busy. Attends pre-shift line-up meetings before each service shift. Attends staff meetings as scheduled by the clubhouse manager and/or dining room manager. Experience/Background/Knowledge Prior Server experience preferred. Skills Ability to communicate effectively with managers and employees in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to perform basic math computations. Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, and crouch; and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. At times, may be required to operate a motor vehicle.
