The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill a Food Service Administrator position. This position is based out of Wisconsin Correctional Center System at the DOC Central Office, 3099 E. Washington Ave, Madison, WI (Dane County).
Position Summary
This position is responsible for the planning, direction, and operation of a complex decentralized food service program for the Wisconsin Correctional Center System, a major minimum-security institution for adult males.
The Food Service Administrator is responsible for preparation, distribution, and service of meals and modified diets for 1,700 PIOC’s and 450 staff members at the 13 WCCS Correctional Centers located geographically in the State of Wisconsin.
This position is responsible for budgeting, menu development and maintenance, implementation of a modified diet program, sanitation, health and safety, maintenance of security, maintenance of equipment supplies, and services, and assurance that daily nutritional needs are met.
Salary Information
This position is in pay schedule and range 81-03 with a starting pay of $35.00/hour - $44.33/hour . Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required.

Job Details
This position is not eligible for remote work and will work on site.
Anticipated schedule will be day-time hours Monday – Friday. Specifics can be discussed at time of interview.
This position will need the ability to work up to 14 hours per day and more than 40 hours per week on any shift based in case of an operational need. This may include weekends and holidays.
This position is FLSA Exempt.
This position will travel routinely to DOC worksites across the state.

Qualifications

MINIMALLY QUALIFIED APPLICANTS WILL HAVE:

Experience preparing meals and directing other workers in cooking and baking of foods, such as: meats, vegetables, breads, desserts, bag lunches and special occasion meals. Experience training or teaching others skills and tasks (such as: food preparation, cooking, baking, meat, cutting and processing). Experience overseeing a food service operation (scheduling or planning meals, maintaining inventory, developing policies, monitoring sanitation, etc.)

IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE, WELL QUALIFIED APPLICANTS WILL HAVE:

Experience supervising staff (e.g. hiring, training, assigning and directing work, performance evaluations, discipline, dismissal, settling grievances, etc.) Experience with financial tasks (such as: cost control, managing inventory, generating purchasing specifications/justifications/requisitions, etc.) Experience or training in nutrition and modified or restricted diets
