  SUMMARY:   The Food Service Assistant provides support in areas such as production, safety, sanitation, customer service, catered events and other aspects as needed.    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Prepare and serve daily meals in accordance with the menu. This also includes preparing and the set up/break down of on-site events.     * Provide exceptional & timely customer service to all individuals that enter the food service area.          * Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships among staff, residents and community volunteers. * Quality food production within the HACCP program to maintain food safety. Establish a safe & sanitary work environment.                                                                                                                           QUALIFICATIONS: * At least 6 months of cooking experience preferred.  * 1+ year experience working with large groups of people.  * Experience with non-profit organizations recommended.    * G.E.D or High School Diploma or equivalent experience.    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: * U.S labor and health laws, mass quantity cooking  * Cooking, Baking. * Ability to adapt to changing priorities, with a sense of urgency * Excellent customer service skills. * Experience working with vulnerable populations. * Ability to be professional, flexible, respectful, and calm.  * Ability to work well with others.  * Ability to lead by example.   * Bilingual in English and Spanish and/or English and Creole preferred.
Responsibilities
