Friends of Ruby is dedicated to supporting the well-being of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth aged 16-29 through mental health services, social programs, and housing. We operate a Youth Drop-In Centre, offering barrier-free counselling, hot meals, and community programming, and a Transitional Home, providing emergency and long-term housing with life-skills support.

Responsibilities:

As a Food Service Coordinator, you will:

  • Plan, prepare, and freeze nutritious meals, ensuring food and snacks are always available for the 33 residents of the House.
  • Plan and facilitate food programs, educating and coaching residents on cooking skills, healthy eating, food security, and grocery budgeting.
  • Collaborate with external partners to provide access to community support and food security.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with local community agencies and existing partnerships.
  • Plan, implement, evaluate, and report on food programming and budgeting.
  • Clean and maintain kitchen, ensure equipment in good order, keep safe food storage and remind participants to clean up after themselves in all communal areas.
