JOB OVERVIEW

The Food Service Manager oversees the school’s food service program including the planning, preparation and delivery of nutritious and appealing meals to students and staff in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role ensures the efficient operation of the food service programs, promoting healthy eating habits and a positive dining experience within the school community.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline, and/or;
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in a supervisory/food service role in a commercial food operation, preferable in a school or similar operation with knowledge of nutritional requirements, food handling, and safety sanitation standards
  • Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) or ability to obtain certification within 4 months
  • Strong supervisory, organization, technical and analytical skills
  • Proven success managing expenses and monitoring budgets
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing food service related challenges
  • Able to work collaboratively with a team and other departments
  • Ability to work flexible hours and respond to emergencies as needed
    Job Type: Full-time
    Pay: $23.45 - $27.80 per hour
    Expected hours: 40 per week

Responsibilities
  • Supervise the daily operation of the school’s food service programs including breakfast, lunch, dinner, community time, Hilltop operations and special events
  • Prepare and distribute all food service menus ensuring compliance with basic nutritional standards
  • Develop and maintain work schedules for all food service staff to ensure daily preparation of all meals
  • Manage food service staff by providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to foster a motivated and effective team
  • Responsible for the cleanliness and proper storage of all equipment and the proper handling, serving, and storage of all foods
  • Conduct regular inspections and cleanings to uphold food safety and hygiene standards to ensure compliance with all health regulations
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure high-quality goods and services are delivered on time and within budget
  • Oversight of all food and supplies orders, delivery and proper rotation of inventory
  • Ensure freezers, refrigerators, and dishwashers are sanitized and maintained at the proper operating temperature
  • Participate in the development of policies and procedures to enhance the food service program and cleanliness and safety of the facilities
  • Manage the food service budget, monitor expenses and identify cost saving opportunities
  • Collaborate with other departments as needed
