Description
The Opportunity… Indian River Juvenile Correctional Facility is seeking a Food Services Supervisor to support our dietary department with daily food preparation, meal service, and overall kitchen operations Specifically, the Food Services Supervisor will: Supervises daily food service operations, including ingredient room activities, equipment use, sanitation, and meal preparation across assigned shifts. Leads and develops staff by providing orientation, training, scheduling, performance evaluations, monitoring attendance, approving leave/overtime, and participating in applicant interviews. Ensures compliance with institutional policies, NSLA requirements, Department of Health guidelines, and ACA standards Manages food procurement and quality control through weekly ordering, inspection of incoming products, and participation in menu planning. Maintains cost control and sanitary standards by monitoring kitchen conditions, conducting weekly sanitation and safety inspections, and enforcing food limits. Assists in overseeing the youth work program, including hiring, training, supervising, and providing disciplinary or positive reports for resident youth workers. Provides operational coverage and leadership by coordinating staffing for special events, substituting for absent staff, and assuming Food Service Manager duties when needed. Preferred Qualifications… Leadership, commitment to excellence, professionalism, strong interpersonal communication skills, good judgment of people and situations, change agent, excellent customer service, trauma-responsive, and solution driven. Completion of 1 yr. trg. program in food service management; 12 mos. exp. in food service preparation; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in employee training & development. -Or Completion of 2 yr. trg. program in food service preparation or hospitality management technology or 2 yrs. exp. in food service preparation; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in employee training & development. - -Or equivalent of the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
