FOOD SERVICE SUPERVISOR

Location: Northern Ontario – Long-Term Care Facility
Rate: $35/hr
Our client is seeking an experienced Food Service Supervisor to lead dietary operations at a long-term care facility in Northern Ontario. This role is essential in ensuring residents receive nutritious, safe, and high-quality meals while maintaining compliance with all regulatory standards.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of a Food Service Supervisor program, Hospitality Management, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Safe Food Handling Certification (mandatory).
  • Previous supervisory experience in long-term care or healthcare food service environment.
  • Knowledge of dietary guidelines, infection control, and regulatory standards.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and coordinate food service operations, including scheduling staff, assigning duties, and ensuring workflow efficiency.
  • Manage departmental budgets and control costs related to food, supplies, and equipment.
  • Oversee inventory control, including ordering, receiving, and inspecting food and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control protocols by inspecting kitchens, dining rooms, and resident areas.
  • Evaluate service quality and make changes to improve performance and resident satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with other departments (dietary, housekeeping, laundry) to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Implement and interpret policies and procedures for staff, residents, and families in accordance with LTC regulations.
  • Prepare and maintain reports, invoices, and documentation as required.
  • Attend staff and management meetings; liaise with inspectors and external agencies regarding dietary, housekeeping, and laundry services.
  • Keep staff informed on legislation, regulations, and internal policy changes.
