SUMMARY: Perform routine food service tasks and manual work under the immediate supervision in a food production and/or patient services area; operate dish machines, meat slicer; deliver and retrieve patient meal trays from bedside and deliver supplies to patient units; wash, clean and mop food service areas as assigned. The core Success Factors include: Instill Trust and Value Differences Patient and Community Focus and Collaborate RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in the preparation of foods such as meats, vegetables, baked goods, and desserts; prepare foods to include beverages, salads, dressings, sandwiches, and cold plates. Operate food service equipment to include: slicers, mixers, vertical cutters, choppers, Robot Coupe, blender, dish machine, and other vegetable, bakery, cleaning, and meat processing equipment. Transport food or supplies to areas, transports carts/trucks to designated areas, passes meals trays to patients following proper procedure, assembles and replenishes food, supplies, and equipment as required, ensure proper temperature of food in steam tables, refrigerators, and cold tables; reads orders and serves proper portions, remove, cover, wrap, label, date, store, rotate and discard food and condiments per policy and as directed. Clean assigned areas following proper sanitary procedures; sweep and mop floors in assigned areas or as needed. Clean soiled dishes; sort refuse into garbage containers or compost totes; load soiled dishes on conveyor, racks and carts. Set up and operate dish machine to clean dishes, trays, silverware, mugs, bowls, pots, pans, and utensils and equipment; remove all labels and stickers prior to washing; inspect cleaned items for quality of operations. Maintain sufficient stock and supplies for proper perfromanace of duties in assigned area; unload incoming supplies and equipment; stock supplies and equipment in accordance with prescribed procedure. Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: BASIC KNOWLEDGE: Ability to read English and follow oral or written instructions. EXPERIENCE: At least one year previous food service or customer service experience is required. High school degree or equivalent preferred Food Safety Manager or Serv-Safe certification highly desirable WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL: Moderately heavy lifting (20-40 lbs) is involved in this position, prolonged standing, walking, or constant physicial movements on a routine basis. Speech, sight and hearing to effectively communicate by varied means including, but not limited to printed tickets, phone, in person, and fax.
