Food Service Worker – NFSD, Clifton Medical Services Department: Clifton Medical Services - Nutrition and Food Services Entity: Aga Khan University Hospital Location: Karachi, Pakistan Introduction: Clifton Medical Services (CMS) is part of the Aga Khan University Hospital's Outreach Medical Centres, designed to conveniently provide quality healthcare services to patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week, closer to where they live and work. CMS offers 24/7 Emergency Services for patients of all ages who need emergency medical attention. When patients require admission, they can be directly transferred to in-patient units located at Stadium Road Campus through a well-equipped ambulance accompanied by qualified staff. Our wide range of multi-specialty clinics for men, women, and children of all ages are designed to meet the needs and demands of patients based on their health status and lifestyle. CMS also has state-of-the-art Daycare Chemotherapy and Dialysis units, where patients receive compassionate care, treatment, and services from highly qualified, trained, and experienced doctors, nurses, technicians, and administrative staff. Responsibilities: Maintain overall cleanliness by collecting and disposing of waste, washing dishes, sanitizing utensils/equipment, and ensuring all kitchen and cafeteria areas remain hygienic. Operate dishwashing processes, including scraping, loading/unloading, and storing clean dishes and utensils in designated areas. Support cafeteria, kitchen, and office cleaning through sweeping, mopping, dusting, and maintaining sanitary work environments as instructed. Assist in food service and patient meal operations by transporting food trolleys, arranging meal setups, serving meals, and replenishing food items during service hours. Handle catering and food service outlets for on-campus/off-campus functions, including food transport, setup, service, and cash handling when required. Perform basic food preparation tasks, such as slicing bread, portioning salads, fruits, snacks, preparing beverages, and assisting with bulk food production. Assist in food production activities, including basic butchery tasks and pre-processing of vegetables and fruits, as well as supporting bakery, hot, and cold kitchen preparations. Arrange and maintain serving lines and dining areas, including setting up tables/chairs, laying tableware, decorating service areas, guiding diners, taking orders, and ensuring excellent customer service. Ensure cleanliness and order during and after service, including clearing tables, managing spills, and keeping the dining/service areas presentable. Perform rotational and periodic duties across all Nutrition and Food Service units (Patient Meals, Cafeteria, Function Services, Production, Pre-Processing, Food Store, Stewarding), including weekend and holiday shifts as required. Requirements: Educational/Professional Qualifications, Licensure & Relevant Experience Preferably Matric OR Non-Matric Matric: fresh to 2-year institutional food service experience from Hospital / Hotel / Airline / Restaurants. Non-Matric: 3-4 years institutional food service experience from Hospital/Hotel /Air Line/Restaurants. Knowledge And Competencies (State Skills, Abilities & Traits Required) Have potential to learn to operate food service equipment. Ability to perform heavy duty tasks. Ability to lift heavy objects/equipment like trolleys/trays etc. Ability to work in a team. Respectful attitude towards supervisors and colleagues. Comprehensive reference checks will be conducted.
