ABOUT THE ROLE The Food Service Worker at Waupun Rock River Intermediate-64103 plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient and sanitary preparation and serving of meals to students and staff. This position is responsible for maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene while delivering quality customer service in a fast-paced environment. The role requires physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform tasks such as lifting, bending, and manual food preparation. The Food Service Worker contributes to a positive dining experience by following established procedures and health regulations meticulously. Ultimately, this position supports the overall mission of providing nutritious meals that meet dietary guidelines and promote well-being within the school community. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Prepare and serve meals according to established menus and portion sizes while adhering to food safety standards.Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including cooking appliances and cash registers for meal transactions.Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of food preparation and serving areas in compliance with health regulations.Assist with inventory management by receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies to minimize waste.Provide courteous and professional customer service to students and staff, including handling cashiering duties accurately.Follow all standard operating procedures and health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.Perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 35 pounds, bending, squatting, and standing for long periods as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Ability to understand and communicate effectively in English.Basic knowledge of food preparation and serving techniques.Capability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks including lifting up to 35 pounds.Familiarity with health and safety standards related to food service.Experience or ability to operate cash registers and handle transactions accurately. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Previous experience working in a school or institutional food service environment.Certification in food safety or sanitation (e.g., ServSafe).Additional language skills to assist diverse populations.Experience with inventory management and stock rotation.Strong interpersonal skills to enhance customer service quality. SKILLS The required skills such as understanding and speaking English enable clear communication with team members and customers, ensuring smooth daily operations. Manual dexterity and physical stamina are essential for handling food preparation tasks, operating kitchen equipment, and performing cleaning duties efficiently. Knowledge of sanitization and health and safety standards is applied continuously to maintain a hygienic environment and prevent contamination. Cashiering skills are used daily to manage meal transactions accurately and provide friendly service. Following standard operating procedures ensures consistency and compliance, while basic cooking and serving skills allow the worker to contribute effectively to meal delivery and customer satisfaction.
