As a Food Services Assistant, you'll play an important role in supporting the delivery of high-quality food and hospitality services throughout the hospital. You'll be involved in all stages of food preparation, assist with equipment handling and kitchen operations, and help deliver and serve meals to patients, caregivers, and visitors across various areas of the Catering Services Department. This casual position offers flexibility, a supportive team environment, and the chance to make a meaningful difference every day by helping provide comfort, care, and nourishment to those who need it most. The Position Interpret menu tray cards for meal service to patients. Assist with the preparation, plating, delivery of meals and snacks to patients and staff to various locations throughout the Hospital. Prepare, maintain and assist with the provision of meals and snacks in the staff dining room. Assist with the washing of cutlery, crockery and glassware. Assist with the washing up of large heavy-duty pots, pans and other kitchen utensils. Observe and practice all aspects of food, kitchen and personal hygiene. Assist with general kitchen hygiene, washing of walls, floors, refrigerators etc and other areas as requested. You will have a fundamental understanding of kitchen hygiene and experience preparing vegetables, salads, and sandwiches in large quantities. Additionally, you will be able to accurately interpret menus, communicate effectively with colleagues and customers, and perform basic cash register reconciliation and cash handling tasks. To succeed you will have a high standard of personal presentation and punctuality with the willingness to learn new coffee and food production skills. Previous barista and cash handling experience will be beneficial to the role. Above all people will be at the core of everything you do committing to and supporting our Mission and Values.
