Your role at St John of God Berwick Hospital We are seeking a reliable and customer‑focused Casual Food Services Assistant to support our busy Catering team. This varied, hands‑on role is essential to delivering high‑quality food service to patients, caregivers, and hospital staff in a caring and professional environment. Working across a range of shifts, you will assist with meal delivery, plating, cleaning, and general food service duties, ensuring each patient receives the right meal, at the right time, and at the right temperature. A strong commitment to teamwork, hygiene, and service excellence is essential. The Position Working within a team to deliver to patients the correct meal, at the right temperature, at the required time to the correct patient. Prepare and store food in accordance with food safety plan and department standards and guidelines. Food and beverages are delivered in a courteous and friendly manner and where required patients are assisted with their meals at the time of food delivery. Food presentation is to be innovative and distinctive. Ensure all food and beverage requests are communicated to the kitchen in a timely manner. Review all returns of food, to establish the reason for the foods return and communicate to the Food Services Team Leader. Ensure all special diets are provided and explanations provided to the patient where appropriate. Ensure all pantries are well stocked and stock is turned around on a regular basis. Ensure all tray items are on the tray to facilitate an efficient food service. Ensure all special dietary and eating aides, which include special cups and supportive plates, are provide to patients as determined. Ensure all crockery and cutlery of a high standard and any chipped stock is removed from service and reported to the Food Services Team Leader for replacement. You will have Food Handlers certificate Level 1 and the ability to deliver exceptional customer service. To succeed you will have excellent communication skills and experience with a food service environment.
