Job Description:
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties. • Provide support and food services for campers and staff • Strictly follow program policies and procedures.
• Ensure staff safety in compliance with the Health & Safety Standards. • Prepare menus and staff schedule. • Order all supplies and provisions and ensure that inventory is kept for all food, donations, and supplies. • Maintain a list of all suppliers and food service contractors. • Keep records and statistics related to Food Services. • Ensure that all meals are nutritious, properly prepared and served according to menu, allowing for changes when needed due to donations. • Make plans for special dietary needs of residents. • Ensure that menus and food storage follow the Canada Food Guide requirements and in compliance with BCCA standards • Maintain a proper standard of orderliness and cleanliness in Food Services, dining room and storage areas. • Make sure all kitchen equipment and appliances are kept clean and repairs as needed with appropriate approval. • Obtain and maintain proper health certification. • Help in the training and oversite of the seasonal prep cooks • Effectively communicates to all internal and external contacts. Including weekly meetings with the Camp Program Director to ensure all meal requirements are understood and met. • Supervise, including Performance Review, teach, train, develop, and discipline Food Services Staff. • Ensure program is fully staffed with qualified staff and that staff have the resources to do their jobs. Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
• Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities. • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures. • Alternative combination of education and Experience may be considered. • Completion of a formal post-secondary program of two academic years. • Red Seal Certification or equivalent. • Food Safety Certificate per provincial requirements. • First Aid/CPR. • De-escalation training or willingness to obtain. • Alternative combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements
• Three years of experience in the field. • Supervisory experience will be considered as an asset. • Experience working within the field of dietary. • Basic knowledge of Sysco ordering system.

Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $26.35 to $32.94 with a maximum of $39.53.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.

Responsible for overall kitchen operations including maintaining optimal inventory levels; overseeing use of proper food preparation techniques; ensuring compliance with safety regulations; setting work and cleaning schedules for the kitchen staff; monitoring waste levels, food cost and employee working hours to optimize profit. Complete weekly food ordering. Coordinate with the Camp Program Director for weekly food needs. Provide training and support to seasonal prep cooks.
