Job Title:  Food Tech        Reports To:   Director – Food & Nutrition Services Direct Reports:  None          FLSA Classification:  Non-Exempt   Position Summary The Food Tech is responsible for coordinating and directing special functions, and performing a variety of duties including loading and operating dishwashers, preparing basic food items, and maintaining work area in sanitary and well stocked condition. Responsible for the proper sanitation, food handling, schedules and policies set by the facility to ensure proper delivery of nutrition services.     General Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities * Coordinates special functions and catering events including set-up and break down of dietary items utilized.  * Cleans up after meals by storing and labeling unused food properly, puts away unused food and utensils; cleans work area using appropriate cleaning solution; washes and stores dishes and pots and pans; sweeps/mops floors. * Serves as cashier for cafeteria customers. * Maintains stocking and cleaning of cafeteria area.  * Demonstrates proper use and care/storage of chemicals * Helps check deliveries and stock items by utilizing First In/First Out procedures; ensures quality of foods being used or served for the cafeteria; communicates any items that are out-of-stock with staff; communicates with Nutrition Tech and Director any outdated supplements for reorder. * Completes documentation to meet all regulatory standards, policies and procedures; documents tasks on the department Infection Control forms. * Records and handles all messages quickly and appropriately. * Serves as backup in the absence of the Nutrition Tech; records daily cafeteria deposits and reviews all cafeteria reports for accuracy. * Assists in development of cafeteria and In-house catering menu.  * Provides training to dietary staff as directed. * Performs all aspects in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors; uses and maintains equipment safely and appropriately; follows standard precautions. * Maintains confidentiality of all department data and activities. * Demonstrates flexibility in work schedules.  * Complies with all established safety procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff. * Participates in performance improvement activities. * Performs other duties as assigned.   Education Requirements * Associate's Degree in related field / Equivalent combination of education and experience preferred   Certification / Licensure Requirements * Current IL ServSafe Food Protection Certification required   Experience Requirements * Food Service minimum 2 years Preferred Computer Skills * Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Outlook   Additional Skills * Ability to work independently, prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner * Excellent communication and customer service skills * Ability to organize and promote organization     
Responsibilities
