Description

After all this time, the ethos of Avoca remains the same. We cherish our time-honoured traditions, which have been lovingly passed down through several generations. Today, there are third generation weavers working at the Mill. Our skills might be steeped in a long and rich tradition, but our attitude is to look to the future. Now heralded as one of Ireland’s most exciting retail stores, there are Avoca ceramics, clothing, perfumes, soaps and more from our own design studio. We have a host of award-winning cafes and restaurants, Food Markets crammed with artisanal ingredients from near and far, as well as a best-selling range of Avoca cookbooks. There are also gardens to explore at many of our stores, as well as florists and garden centres. The list goes on. And all of this from a modest hand-weaving mill, established in a rural Irish village in 1723.
We are currently looking for part-time Foodhall Assistants for our Avoca Dunboyne location.
The ideal candidates will have some experience in a similar position, and have excellent customer service skills. Knowledge and passion when it comes to all things food would be a distinct advantage. A can-do attitude and a willingness to go the extra mile for our customers is very important.
Job Specification
The role of a Foodhall Assistant is to assist Avoca customers through all stages of their experience with the Company.

Responsibilities
  • Customer Service - Customers should be tended to with courtesy and respect at all times. Their satisfaction is paramount to our business so a high level of customer service is required, from greeting them as they come in, helping them with enquiries or issues, and making sure they are happy as they leave.
  • HACCP - Food systems management should be up to date and compliant with HACCP and EHO guidelines. All health and safety aspects such as food handling procedures, recording fridge temperatures etc., should be adhered to.
  • Opening and closing duties as outlined by your line manager. Avoca values teamwork as a core responsibility for all staff, and team spirit with regard to leaving the workspaces clean and stocked up for the next shift is very important.
  • Food Preparation, especially for special orders such as corporate, lunch or catering orders - these should reflect Avoca standards at all times.
  • Flexibility regarding training on different sections is required. Foodhall employees are encouraged to show an interest in different aspects of the foodhall, such as product knowledge, barista training, training on cheese and charcuterie etc.
