JOB SUMMARY

Primary responsibility is to coordinate the US Department of Homeland Security work visa requirements for foreign national faculty. Secondary responsibilities will include working with faculty to facilitate Angelo State Students Study Abroad programs.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of

  • Banner and other common software packages

Ability to

  • Interpret and apply DHS work-visa requirements for foreign-national faculty

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma
  • Five years of experience working at an institution of higher education.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of DHS policies and procedures and duties related to the processing of Faculty visas through the USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services).

Responsibilities
  1. International Faculty Employment Support
  • Coordinate and prepare all documents required for hiring and retaining foreign-national faculty.
  • Advise departments and employees on appropriate non-immigrant visa categories and work-authorization requirements.
  • Monitor immigration status and ensure timely maintenance of work authorization for foreign-national employees.
  • Develop and deliver workshops or one-on-one training sessions on immigration compliance.
  • Assist departments in sponsoring eligible foreign-national employees for U.S. permanent residency.
  1. Study-Abroad Program Coordination
  • Promote study-abroad opportunities through proactive outreach, timely advising, and excellent customer service to maximize student enrollment and retention.
  • Track, review, and process all paperwork related to faculty-led and third-party study-abroad programs.
  • Guide faculty and staff through program planning, travel logistics, and institutional procedures.
  • Provide comprehensive advising to students—including program selection, application assistance, financial aid and scholarship guidance, billing and registration, health and safety requirements, and cultural preparation.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with faculty leaders, external providers, and partner institutions, communicating program details, recruitment strategies, and ongoing requirements.
