JOB DESCRIPTION

As a foreman, you combine leadership with practical work. You’ll allocate tasks within the team, train new employees, and coordinate closely with the supervisor. At the same time, you’ll work hands-on making, processing, and installing plates, profiles, and various parts on board. You’ll also help think about improvements and monitor quality and safety in the workplace.

Your tasks include:

  • Allocating tasks and giving instructions to the team.
  • Daily planning of work and training new employees.
  • Performing construction work on ship components and small metalwork.
  • Consulting with the supervisor about progress and possible improvements.
  • Testing tanks for leaks after repairs.
  • Planning personnel, tools, and materials for each project.
  • Monitoring safety and compliance with regulations.
  • Checking the quality and progress of the work.
  • Communicating with colleagues, subcontractors, and inspection bodies.
  • Making proposals to prevent problems or delays.

REQUIREMENTS

For this role, it’s important that you have experience in shipbuilding or metalworking and take your role as foreman seriously. You have insight into processes, can set priorities, and communicate clearly, including in English when necessary.

  • Has technical expertise in metalworking or shipbuilding.
