Description A Foreman is responsible for leading a crew to erect pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB) safely, efficiently, and to specifications. This involves interpreting blueprints, managing daily site operations, ensuring safety compliance with regulations like OSHA, and coordinating with project managers. The role also includes hands-on duties like steel framing, roofing, and equipment operation, as well as training and mentoring PEMB erectors. Key responsibilities Crew and project management: Lead and coordinate a crew, manage daily activities, assign tasks, and ensure projects meet quality, safety, and schedule standards. Blueprint interpretation: Read and accurately interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to guide the erection process. Safety oversight: Conduct safety inspections, enforce safety procedures, and ensure compliance with regulations like OSHA. Hands-on erection: Participate in and supervise the physical erection of steel frameworks, including framing, welding, sheeting, and insulation. Equipment operation: Operate and ensure the proper use and maintenance of heavy equipment like telehandlers, and boom lifts. Communication: Collaborate with project managers, and other stakeholders; communicate with clients to resolve concerns; and provide guidance on installation processes. Training and mentoring: Train and mentor PEMB erectors, promoting skill development and adherence to best practices. Requirements Qualifications and skills Proven experience as a metal building erector, with significant experience in a leadership role. Proficiency in reading blueprints, drawings, and specifications. Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and other relevant industry standards. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Physical stamina and the ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions. Familiarity with hand and power tools and heavy equipment operation is necessary. Preferred Characteristics Set an example by actively contributing to department and company goals. Accountable; feel ownership for their work Physical Requirements Prolonged sitting or standing. Walking on uneven ground. Outdoors in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements. Frequent and repetitive grasping, pushing, pulling, squeezing and fine manipulation. Frequent use of feet and hands to operate machine controls. Frequent lifting and carrying of items up to 50 lbs. Occasional lifting and carrying of items up to 100 lbs. The ability to wear Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed (i.e., hard hat, fall protection, dust mask, respirator, safety glasses, gloves, face shield)
