JOB SUMMARY

The Traffic Control Foreman is a member of the operations team and is responsible for implementing the traffic control plan as designed and detailed by a registered engineer. The Traffic Control Foreman schedules crews and equipment, orders materials, and coordinates with subcontractors. This position requires flexibility to remain on call 24/7 to assist with traffic situations as they occur.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Work Zone Traffic Control Supervisor Certification Required
  • Experience in reading traffic control plans
  • Knowledge of state and local roadways
  • Previous MOT experience is required
  • At least 3 years of previous heavy highway construction management experience planning, organizing, and supervising all equipment and materials needed to set up, take down, maintain traffic control, and handle traffic-related situations is required
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented
  • Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with management and employees, both verbally and written
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and task-oriented
  • Work independently as well as part of a team
  • Must be capable, licensed, and approved to drive a company pick-up truck or similar vehicle to work sites, offices, and other locations as required to perform job duties
  • Must be able to climb up and down ladders and scaffolding to gain access to work and walk on uneven surfaces throughout the construction site
Responsibilities
  • Communicating and working with craft supervision, owners, vendors, subcontractors, and members of the project team
  • Positioning temporary work zones including set-up and tear-down, utilizing traffic cones and warning signs per SCDOT standards and requirements, and conducting lane closures/detours
  • Supervising and maintaining traffic through work zones during the construction period
  • Supervise all activities of traffic control technicians and traffic control specialists
  • Assist in administering MOT policies and standards
  • Work with local law enforcement in accident responses
