Physical Requirements

  • Able to safely operate lift trucks and vehicles/service vans
  • Able to sit, stand, walk, bend/stoop/twist, squat, reach below knee level, grip/grasp, work with arm outstretched, and work above chest level
  • Able to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 100 lbs., reach above shoulder level, climb stairs, climb ladders, torque, use vibratory tools, and pinch gri

Education and Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Valid driver’s license preferred
  • Industry related training and/or one to two years of prior experience (preferred)
  • Able to read and understand hydraulic and electrical schematics
  • Familiar with tools and equipment such as common hand tools, electrical/air tools, torch, arc welder, and various types of testing equipment
  • Able to read and understand service manuals and microfiche, plan and follow-through
  • Good organizational, customer service, communication and interpersonal skills require

The Role

Reporting to the Shop Service Manager and Supervisor, Shop Service Technicians are responsible for troubleshooting, servicing and repairing both Company and competitors’ lift trucks and other equipment at Crown locations.

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair Crown and all other makes of lift trucks and other equipment.
  • Repair, replace or rebuild equipment components such as internal combustion engines, electric motors (drive/pump/auxiliary), cylinders (tilt/lift/reach), brake systems, electrical systems, drive units, mast assemblies and frame weldments. May perform total rebuilds of lift trucks and/or other equipment.
  • Perform pre-delivery inspections on new equipment.
  • Perform inspections and service on demo, rental, and used equipment. Make any necessary adjustments.
  • Install, remove, and/or repair attachments and accessories such as clamps, sideshifters, push/pulls, lights, and audible devices as required. Handle any hydraulic or electrical adaptations.
  • Confer with supervisor and review recommended repairs.
  • Perform safety and operational tests.
  • May estimate or quote repair costs.
  • Place parts orders.
  • Complete necessary paperwork.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair batteries and chargers as needed.
  • Lay down and stand-up trucks.
  • Clean equipment.
  • Perform miscellaneous building repairs as assigned.
  • Complete all training as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
