Job description: Dick’s Lumber in Port Kells, BC is looking for an organized, detail oriented, team player with a positive attitude to join our team as a Load Builder. ACCOUNTABILITIES: * Accurately assemble orders for pick up and transport. * Safely operate a forklift to build orders, load delivery trucks, receive inbound inventory and other tasks as needed. * Assist customers as required. * Verify receiving using “Pre-receiving paperwork” and “Packing Slips”. Tagg products and place in the appropriate homes. * Document and process return ensuring merchandise is in sellable condition. * Ensure required inventory adjustments are reported. * Complete the forklift inspection form and perform daily maintenance. * Ensure all lifts are piled evenly with no leans and compliant with safety standards. * Work with team members to ensure stock is properly rotated. * Maintain a clean and orderly yard and warehouse as directed. Following clean as you go principles. * Perform other job-related duties as required including but not limited to snow plowing, container moving, yard maintenance and any other specialized moves that would require heavy equipment. QUALIFICATIONS: * Current Forklift Certification. * Minimum of one (1) year of experience operator a forklift * Manual dexterity to operate the forklift and the ability to lift over 25 kgs. * Fluent in English (spoken and written) with excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills. * Basic functional math skills with the ability to add, subtract, multiply or divide without the function of a calculator. * Experience and knowledge in this or a related industry is an asset. * Good knowledge of safe working procedures. * Detail oriented with strong organizational skills. * Professional, courteous and punctual with a focus on customer service. WORKING CONDITIONS: * Exposure to dust, dirt and extreme changes in temperature and weather. * Moderate exposure to personal risk; safety boots are required. * Busy, high volume environment.

Responsibilities

The Load Builder is responsible for accurately assembling orders, operating a forklift to load trucks and receive inventory, and maintaining a clean warehouse. Additional duties include processing returns, performing equipment maintenance, and assisting customers.
