Description Overview: MI Metals is seeking a Forklift Operator to support the efficient operation of the production floor by assisting the extrusion department. Under the supervision of the Extrusion Manager, this position is responsible for safely operating forklifts and other material-handling equipment to transport raw materials, finished products, and production supplies throughout the facility. The Forklift Operator will help maintain workflow efficiency, ensure product quality standards are met, and adhere to all company safety policies and procedures. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILL AND/OR RESPONSIBILITY REQUIRED: Previous significant Forklift operation experience within an applicable environment required. Obtain the appropriate valid MI Metals operator’s license prior to operating powered industrial equipment. Inspect and perform maintenance checks of forklift at beginning of shift or when switching to another forklift before operating. Notify Maintenance or Department Manager immediately to get maintenance issues corrected. Performing operator maintenance such as adding oil, coolant, and refueling of propane tanks. Adhere to all policies, procedures, rules, quality and customer service standards set forth by the company. Identify safety hazards in the workplace and report them to management. Keep WIP of department material to be processed in a neat and organized manner to allow ease of movement in and out of department. Stage material to be processed determined by Team Leader or Department Manager for continuous production flow by grouping as required. Assist line operations as needed when tasked to do so. Stacking empty pallets and relocation of pallets. Consolidating of items for good housekeeping practices. Performing Inventory checks and counts when tasked to do so. Transporting of materials around facility as needed. Maintain a valid TN Driver’s license to remain compliant with MI Metals Forklift Program. Work Environment: Exposure to high temperatures, noise, and dust in a manufacturing environment. Must wear appropriate PPE at all times (e.g., gloves, safety glasses, ear protection).
