JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient handling, delivery, and storage of material around the plant. They are also responsible for operating other machinery such as the Sand Machine

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Successful completion of a high school diploma required
  • Minimum of 2 years experience operating a counterbalance forklift full time
  • Must have received training and valid certification to operate a counterbalance forklift through a recognized institute
  • 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment

TECHNICAL SKILLS/COMPETENCE

  • Ability to lift 40 pounds
  • Manual dexterity
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods, and tools required in the performance of work
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Commitment to quality and safety
  • Good command of the English language
  • Ability to understand written and oral work instructions
  • Standard knowledge of Microsoft Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the Forklift Operator are detailed below, but not limited to the following:

  • Ensure forklift is in good working condition by completing daily preoperational checklist, reporting malfunctions defects or issues to shift supervisor.
  • Ensure engine oil is at an adequate level before start-up.
  • Operate all equipment in a safe and effective manner.
  • Supply material to the area of assignment and ensuring this is no downtime caused by material shortage.
  • Ensure first in, first out material flow
  • Transport finished product to the required storage location.
  • Respond to requests from all plant personnel when the need arises.
  • Stack material safely and efficiently without causing damage to property or surrounding material.
  • Operate the Sand Machine safely and correctly as needed
  • Operate the sand blasting equipment as needed
  • Empty Racks from the Sand machine bins for the line to use
  • Perform other duties as required.
