Cranleigh STEM is working exclusively with a leading chemical brand that has an exciting opportunity for a Formulation Chemist to join the team based in Dorset. Your role will be to develop high-performance products to support clients in their performance division. To be considered, you must have previous experience in the development of cleaning products, lubricants or similar.
The primary objective of this position is to serve as the expert in formulation chemistry, contributing to a dynamic and growing R&D team. This team is responsible for developing high-performance products. As a formulation chemist, you will play a crucial role in creating innovative products for exciting applications, such as cleaning solutions, washes, polishes, and lubricants.

FORMULATION CHEMIST REQUIREMENTS:

  • Holds a Master’s/PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
  • Experienced in developing formulated products such as cleaning solutions and lubricants (or similar).
  • Collaborating with suppliers and contractors to ensure new products are developed in a timely and efficient manner while ensuring all parties remain engaged.
  • Able to critically review technical data and literature
  • Proficient in chemical characterization techniques like FTIR and Gas Chromatography
  • Experienced in a laboratory setting with solid lab management skills, including chemical handling and COSHH assessments
  • Possesses a hands-on approach to project execution and problem-solving
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Competent in IT, with experience writing technical reports
Responsibilities
  • Lead technical projects related to cleaning products
  • Design, test, and develop new cleaning products
  • Collaborate with suppliers and contractors to ensure efficient, timely product development
  • Create testing and characterization protocols
  • Maintain detailed project records
  • Manage laboratory equipment and resources
  • Work closely with the R&D team to support the development of additional products
