Location: New York, NY (Hybrid – Tue/Wed/Thu in office, travel required) Employment Type: Full-Time Start: ASAP We are hiring our first Forward Deployed Engineer to launch a new business line focused on Independent System Operators (ISOs). This is a zero-to-one role. Our client builds software that helps renewable energy developers identify the cheapest interconnection points on the electrical grid and estimate connection costs. The company works directly with Independent System Operators (ISOs), the entities responsible for planning and operating the electrical grid — a critical bottleneck in the global energy transition. Mission: accelerate grid decarbonization by making ISO planning faster and more efficient. You will: Own deployments at specific ISOs Work directly with founders daily Travel to embed with users Ship production software in tight cycles Learn deeply from Transmission Planning Engineers (TPEs) If you’ve worked as an FDE at Palantir, this role is structurally similar. This role is for engineers who love: Talking to users Shipping fast Operating in ambiguity Building mission-critical software Working in climate/energy What You’ll Own Full software ownership for a specific ISO Rapid iteration cycles (user feedback → production in days) On-site embedding with ISO teams Close collaboration with Transmission Planning Engineers Deployment strategy execution Launching a new business line from zero to one Must-Have Requirements 5+ years software engineering experience Strong coding skills Comfort operating in ambiguity High ownership mindset Willingness to travel frequently Passion for climate / energy transition Comfortable working directly with domain experts Nice to Have Prior Forward Deployed Engineer experience Power grid / ISO knowledge Transmission planning familiarity Experience in high-intensity startups
