EDUCATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
· Degree or Diploma in a Human Services field
· Must have current registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers
·MUST HAVE CURRENT EXPERIENCE IN THE FEILD
· Clear Criminal Record Check and Intervention Record Check
· Standard First Aid / CPR
· Valid Class 5 Drivers License
· Experience working with children, youth and families
· Knowledge of child development and the impact of environment and organic factors
· Advanced computer skills including databases, Windows, and Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.)
· Excellent keyboarding skills
· Good problem solving and conflict resolution skills
· Critical thinking and assessment skills
· Ability to interact with others in a professional and timely manner

PURPOSE
The primary role of this position provides support, guidance, leadership and supervision of foster parents and staff. This position also responds to complex queries and situations of the foster care program.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES
Capacity and professionalism to work in a high pressure, stressful atmosphere while assisting program staff. Requires good working knowledge of the Child Intervention, Family Enhancement, Permanency Planning, Adoptions, Post-Adoption Support, Foster Care, Child Care Licensing and Family Support for Children with Disabilities programs.
Responsible for ensuring legislation, regulations, policy, and procedures are followed.
· Assess children and youth’s needs
· Process and maintain records of foster parents
· Document child, youth, and foster parent information
· Generate reports
· Monitor and advise on expenditures as per Government guidelines
· Ensure licensing requirements of foster homes are met
· Prepare and administer foster home licensing packages
· Attend monthly foster parent meetings
· Attend home visits and other appointments related to foster families and children
· Acts as liaison between Child Care workers, Child Intervention workers, Family Support for Children with Disabilities workers and Administrative Support Staff
· Understanding of Indigenous governance systems and structures
· A knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture, practices, communities, history and the current environment (Bill C-92)
