OVERVIEW

The Foundry Planner is a planning/liaison role dedicated to the operational activities of the foundry division. Key responsibilities include planning and scheduling production activities, ensuring efficient use and inventory of resources, and coordinating with different departments to meet production targets.

QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS

· Proven experience in production planning or scheduling within a manufacturing environment, preferably in foundry operations.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
· Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems preferred.

Responsibilities

· Continuously evaluate available capacity, using company enterprise resource planning (ERP), strategically creating and actively scheduling shop orders to meet customer demands and respond to operational limitations.
· Serve as a primary point of contact for internal sales teams, reviewing contracts, promptly acknowledging scheduled delivery dates. Keep records of all shipping information.
· Provide clear communication internally and to customers regarding production progress, with the focus on providing a high standard of customer service, measured by achieving promised shipment dates. Respond to customer inquiries regarding order status/delivery expectations.
· Maintain meticulous records of and communicate where required all pour record entries, melt tickets, runout, open scrap and rework information, always safeguarding the integrity of casting orders and upholding quality standards.
· Update new contracts into foundry shipping forecast and regularly update the production schedule to reflect evolving priorities, ensuring maximum efficiency and resource utilization.
· Generate and communicate weekly sub-schedules for critical production areas including the pattern shop, molding, melt deck, and cleaning room, facilitating smooth workflow across all departments.
· Monitor and manage active inventory levels on the foundry floor, including mold wash refractory, sand binder, and pattern shop consumables, to prevent disruptions in production.
· Submit requisitions for both inventoried foundry consumables and non-inventoried material requirements associated with pattern making and mold/core making, ensuring timely replenishment of essential supplies.
· Collaborate with Pattern Chasers to retrieve patterns from storage, confirming usability and scheduling repairs as needed to maintain production continuity.
· Maintain situational awareness of foundry operations to support decision making for Foundry Supervisor and Operations Manager.
· Other duties as assigned.
